Japanese Naturalization 10-Year Rule
Japan's Ministry of Justice (法務省) has decided that foreign nationals seeking Japanese citizenship will need more than 10 years of residence in Japan, starting in April. The change is framed as 原則として (as a general rule), suggesting there may still be special cases. Key terms include 帰化 (naturalization), 外国人 (foreign national), 日本国籍 (Japanese citizenship), 要件 (requirements), and 在留 (residence).
Gasoline Subsidy Reserve Fund
The Japanese government plans to use nearly all of its remaining reserve fund — around 810 billion yen — to support subsidies meant to keep gasoline prices from rising too sharply.
