How do I convert romaji to hiragana?
Type romaji in the box, for example konnichiwa, and the hiragana appears as you type: こんにちわ. Tap Copy to paste it anywhere. It is free and works on your phone.
Can it convert romaji to katakana too?
Yes. Tap Katakana above the box and everything you type comes out in katakana. In hiragana mode, words typed in UPPERCASE also come out in katakana, so you can mix both in one sentence.
Does it show kanji?
For common words it does. Type a word like taberu, nihon or sakura and the converter shows its usual kanji (食べる, 日本, 桜) with the meaning, so you can learn the written form.
Why does konnichiwa come out as こんにちわ and not こんにちは?
The converter writes what you type, and wa is わ. In the greeting the last sound is written with the particle は, so the correct spelling is こんにちは. The kanji hint under the result points this out.
