For theme parks and attraction tickets, Klook (Japan tickets and tours) and KKday (Japan) had the same Universal Studios Japan price (from ¥8,900) when we checked; compare the cancellation terms, which differ by ticket. GetYourGuide (Japan) and Viator (Japan) are stronger for guided tours than for tickets. For the JR Pass, none of them beats JR's own site (¥50,000 for 7 days): see our Shinkansen comparison. Japan specialists: Japan Experience and Rakuten Travel Experiences. With a rewards scheme: Klook (Japan tickets and tours), KKday (Japan), Viator (Japan) and Rakuten Travel Experiences.

What to watch out for

  • Klook (Japan tickets and tours): Many Japan tickets are "No cancellation": read each package before you pay
  • Klook (Japan tickets and tours): Its JR Pass is ¥53,000, ¥3,000 more than JR's own site
  • KKday (Japan): Its JR Pass page says it beats the official price, but JPY 53,000 is above JR's ¥50,000
  • KKday (Japan): The USJ Studio Pass can be re-dated, but bundles can't, and none show free cancellation
  • GetYourGuide (Japan): Popular Japan tickets (USJ, teamLab) are non-refundable despite the 24-hour default
  • GetYourGuide (Japan): Its own terms say prices may be higher than on other platforms
  • Viator (Japan): teamLab Planets from $47 here; Klook lists it from ¥3,600
  • Viator (Japan): Its teamLab page shows a non-refundable policy while the compare box says "Free Cancellation"
  • Japan Experience: Prices and payment are in euros, so your bank may add a foreign fee
  • Japan Experience: 15% fee to cancel a JR Pass, more than Klook's 10%
  • Rakuten Travel Experiences: No nationwide JR Pass or Shinkansen tickets found
  • Rakuten Travel Experiences: Some pages and FAQ links mix Japanese and English, and one product page errored
